Jonathan Florencio

Jonathan Martinez Florencio (Jon 'Flo' Florencio) (born in Queens, N.Y. on July 21, 1976) is a multiple-award winning [1][2] composer, recording engineer and record producer. He has composed music for various commercials; Hummer, Scion, Calvin Klein, Mercedes, Rolex, Yves Saint Lauren, Pepsi, MTV, etc.[3] He has also worked with acts such as Ours,[4] Glassjaw,[5] Jimmy Gnecco,[6] Dearly departed,[7] The Washdown,[8] and The Woods[9],. His production technique is notable for its width, innovative textures, and deconstructive approach to production.

Currently, he is in the studio working on Jimmy Gnecco's debut solo-album The Heart that will be released in 2010 on Bright Antenna Records [6][10] and co-producing/engineering the upcoming Glassjaw full-length & ep [5][11]

Awards

Florencio won the First Boards Awards 2004[2] for his first year's work as a composer. He also went on to win the 2004 LIAA London International Award[1] for Best Original Music Scoring on a Calvin Klein commercial featuring Scarlett Johansson.[1]

In 2008, Jonathan mixed select tracks for the Ours 'Mercy' album, produced by Rick Rubin. The album was credited for Grammy Awards 'Producer Of The Year-Rick Rubin 2008'.[12]
